Consider the noise, space and appearance of the heat pump installation. The HydroTop has been developed for these types of situations. This roof-mounted solution is characterized by the simplicity of the product, takes up little space and integrates seamlessly into the roof of the house. Thereby, the heat pump gets its energy from the outside air. Here, the outdoor unit is built-in and the indoor unit is often placed as close as possible to the HydroTop. This combination is placed in the attic of the house, just like a skylight, through an opening in the roof. The part that extracts energy from the outside air protrudes about 15 inches above the roof.

As of 2021 there are strict requirements for maximum heat pump noise. These requirements are part of the amended building code and apply not only to new homes, but also to existing homes. These specific requirements deal with the amount of noise at the property boundary: Maximum 45 dB during the day and 40 dB at night.

The HydroTop has a large service hatch at the rear that allows a technician to easily access the outdoor unit from the inside. Consideration has also been given to the long-term replacement of the heat pump, as the hatch is large enough to remove the outdoor unit and install a new outdoor unit.
