In the street scene, observant passersby already see them from time to time: bulges in a tiled roof, which are clearly not solar panels. This is one of the possibilities for installing the outdoor unit of a heat pump invisibly and less audibly. Hoisting in-roof solutions requires a crane. As a result, indak solutions will be used more for projects, rather than individual homes.
Known from the trade fair
DHPS' HydroTop has already been shown at several trade fairs and applied in various projects. Nibe, among others, mentions the HydroTop on its website as a solution to position the outdoor unit of the Nibe air-water heat pump invisibly and barely audible.
The HydroTop is closed on the visible side, but has grilles all around, in the raised edges 138 mm high. DHPS combines the HydroTop with the Panasonic air-water heat pump, among others. At the factory, the outdoor unit is mounted inside the HydroTop. A crane can hoist in the HydroTop including the outdoor unit. The indoor unit must hang near the outdoor unit, but is not attached to the HydroTop. The inside of this indak solution can be opened, to perform maintenance on the outdoor unit from the inside.
Preventing recirculation
In rooftop solutions for heat pumps, the outdoor unit is in a relatively small box on the sloping roof. There, the wind has a greater effect on the outdoor unit, than in an in-roof solution. The risk of recirculation due to wind pressure is therefore greater.
In the HydroTop, the supply and discharge sides of the outdoor unit are completely separated. There is a flange on the discharge side of the outdoor unit. On this comes a flexible tube with the same diameter as the discharge side. The tube is attached to the discharge grille of the HydroTop. On the outside of the HydroTop, the upper and lower grilles blow out air. The air supply is through the grilles on the sides. Because of this separation of air flows, recirculation is not possible in the HydroTop.
